Kingstown
Kingstown is the largest city and port of Saint Vincent, the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and its commercial and political center. With a population of 16,500 (2010), Kingstown is the most populous settlement in the country. It is the center of the island's agricultural industry and tourism. The city is located in St. George's district in the southwestern part of St. Vincent.

Etymology
Founded in 1763, when the island belonged to the United Kingdom, it was called King, literally the "royal city" (King, town).
History
Kingstown was founded by French settlers shortly after 1722. In 1763, the British took over the islands, and since 1783 the islands under the Treaty of Versailles became a British colony. In 1979, the islands became a fully independent state within the British Commonwealth.
Established in 1765, the Botanical Garden is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. William Blye, famous for his rebellion at Bounty, brought the seed of the Bread Tree into the garden in 1793.
The city suffered a great hurricane in 1780, and 584 of the 600 buildings were destroyed.
Geography
Located in the protected bay on the south-western tip of Saint Vincent Island in the Navetraen Islands archipelago, in the eastern part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, in the West Indies region between the Americas. The city is surrounded by steep hills.
The capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is also the administrative center of Saint George's parish.
It includes the suburb of Arnos Vale.

The city is home to the consulate of Finland, the embassy of Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, Republic of China (Taiwan).
Religion
The Kingstown Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church was established in 1989.
Economics
Kingstown is the headquarters of Larson&Holz, an over-the-counter service.
Transport
In the south-eastern part of Kingstown in the suburb of Arnos Vale airport E. T. Joshua, named after Ebenezer Joshua, the first chief minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. LIAT operates regular flights. SVG Air charters operate charter flights in the Caribbean region.
Ferries connect Kingstown to Bekia Island.
Education
Trinity School of Medicine runs
Saint Vincent Grammar School was founded in 1908.
Culture
There are a number of churches of the 19th century, the Museum of the History of Black Caribbean.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines Botanical Gardens were founded in 1765. It is located at an altitude of 190 meters above sea level.
Sports
The city is the headquarters of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee, the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennes Association.
Cricket
The West Indies cricket team is playing international matches at Arnos-Vale Stadium and the 2007 World Cricket Cup was held.
Football
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national football team at Arnos Vale stadium held the CONCACAF qualifying tournament matches for the World Cup 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2 2014, Caribbean Cup 1995, 2010.
In the city there are football clubs Avenues United FC, Digicel Jebelle FC, JG and Son Stingers FC, System 3 FC, which are in the highest league of the country NLA Premier League.
At the Victoria Park stadium, Avenues United FC plays at home.
